Summer Trends

Being the 16th of August and so far having the most amazing summer in the UK we thought we would take a look at some of the best trends we have seen this summer.

1. Earthy and Sun-Washed Color Palettes - Soft clays, sage greens, warm sands, and terracotta are associated with creating a calming space. They pair well with more bold dynamic colours to add personality to a space without feeling overwhelming.

2. Bold Walls - Painting walls, trim, and sometimes even furniture in a single, enveloping color makes a statement. Pastel color drenching or even bold, dramatic shades on multiple surfaces—walls, ceilings, doors have become very popular and isn’t a trend going away soon, proving more and more popular.

3. Integrated Outdoor Living - Indoor-outdoor living is more popular than ever, especially as the UK summers are becoming warmer. Oversized doors, continuous flooring, and thoughtfully furnished patios—using weatherproof materials, layered textures, and cohesive styling—extend living spaces into the garden or terrace. Works well in small spaces making them feel bigger and open in summer.

4. Playful Patterns - From checkerboard rugs and botanical wallpapers to “pattern drenching”, design is embracing boldness. Accent ceilings, bold paint colours and finishes, wallpaper, and unique moldings in both carpentry and plaster.

5. Vintage and Heritage Touches - Mixing contemporary items with vintage or heritage pieces, like an antique armchair next to a modern sofa. The use of floral wallpapers, and classic silhouettes—adds charm, character, and sustainability. Markets and second-hand shops are becoming ever popular and now sometimes can be pricey. We enjoy using Vinterior and Pamono to find some great pieces as well as local places like Lorfords antiques and Brown Rigg both located in Tetbury, a must visit for antique lovers.

These trends balance timeless comfort with bold self-expression and sustainability, making summer 2025 a very playful time in the Interior Design industry.
